SummaryThe principal section cautions Muslims not to make union with the foes of God. Refrains 4-6 give Abraham as a model to this, as he moved away from the agnostics of his own clan, including his own dad. Refrains 7 to 9 announce the likelihood that Muslims and their past foe could have better relations ("It is possible that God will manufacture fondness among you and those of them with whom you are in animosity") assuming the previous foe quits battling the Muslims. These stanzas give premise to the relations of Muslims and non-Muslims as indicated by the Quran: the fundamental connection is harmony except if the Muslims are gone after, or when war is legitimate to stop unfairness or safeguard the religion.
The following sections (10-12) address a few matters of Islamic regulation. They pronounce relationships among Muslims and polytheists to be presently not legitimate, and train Muslims on the most proficient method to determine the subject of mahr while dissolving such relationships. The situation with between strict relationships was extremely important at the hour of the disclosure of these stanzas, when various ladies from Mecca switched over completely to Islam while their spouses didn't, or the other way around.
