Al-Ahzab (Arabic: الأحزاب, al-aḥzāb; meaning: the confederates, or "the factions", "the alliance", or "the consolidated powers") is the 33rd part (sūrah) of the Quran (Q33) with 73 sections (āyāt). The sūrah takes its name from the notice of the gatherings (al-aḥzāb), or confederates (a coalition among the Quraysh and different clans), who battled the Muslims at the Skirmish of the Channel (5/627), otherwise called the Clash of the Gatherings and as the attack of Madinah.
