An-Najm (Arabic: النجم, an-najm; meaning: The Star) is the 53rd section (surah) of the Quran, with 62 stanzas (āyāt). The surah opens with the promise of the Heavenly One depending on all of the stars, as they slide and vanish underneath the skyline, that Muhammad is without a doubt God's anticipated Courier. It takes its name from Ayat #1, which specifies "the stars" (najm). The surah affirms the heavenly wellspring of the Prophet's message and alludes to his climb to paradise during the Night Excursion (Ayah#1 ff.). The surah discredits the cases of the doubters about the goddesses and the holy messengers (ayah#19 ff.), and records a few insights about God's power. It closes with an advance notice of the inevitable Day of Judgment.
