Yunus (Arabic: يونس, Yūnus; Arabic equivalent of "Jonas" or "Jonah"), is the tenth part (surah) of the Quran with 109 stanzas (ayat). Yunus is named after the prophet Yunus (Jonah). As indicated by tafsir sequence (asbāb al-nuzūl), it is accepted to have been uncovered before the movement of the Islamic prophet Muhammed and his supporters from Mecca to Medina (Hijra), thusly, it is known as a Meccan surah.
